Welcome

Welcome to the website of the ultracold quantum matter group at the University of Oxford.

From a certain temperature on, the molecules condense without attractive forces, that is, they accumulate at zero velocity. The theory is pretty but is there also some truth to it ?

Project students

Bruno Naylor and Felix Marsault from ENS Paris have just started their project with us. Bruno is setting up a dipole trap for our Rb experiment and Felix is helping get our first KRb MOT.

Robert Stockill, a fourth year student from Oriel College is also making great progress trapping aluminum flakes in his newly designed Paul trap.

Graphene flakes in a Paul trap

Pierre Jamonneau from ENS, Paris just finished his project on trapping graphene flakes in a Paul trap.

Results on the TAAP ring potential published

Our paper "Time-averaged adiabatic ring potential for ultracold atoms" has been published in PRA. Further one of our figures featured in the April edition of PRA Kaleidoscope.

More congratulations...

to Marcus this time for getting his DPhil.
